the outreach committee

The BMES Outreach Committee is all about understanding the framework that the bioengineering community at Berkeley is supported by and building relationships with those in and around that community. Committee members maintain connections with BMES alumni, culminating in spring semester’s Legacy Night dinner. Through this process, students take advantage of the opportunity to learn about the numerous pathways available to them after they leave Berkeley. The committee also facilitates the BMES Mentor & Mentee (M&M) program, which pairs together underclassmen, upperclassmen, and graduate students; the program gives mentees a reliable source of guidance and offers mentors the opportunity to connect with and provide support to the next generation of students. Additionally, committee members work within the greater Bay Area community, organizing STEM outreach events for middle school students and volunteering with various Bay Area organizations, including the Berkeley Project, the Exploratorium, VIDA Warehouse, and the American Red Cross.
