the outreach committee
The BMES Outreach Committee is all about understanding the intricate overlap of the bioengineering community at Berkeley and its relationships with those in and around that community. Committee members maintain strong connections with BMES alumni, contribute to their community, and pursue their creative goals through the projects they lead. Outreach gives students the advantageous opportunity to learn about the numerous pathways available to them after they leave Berkeley. Our committee facilitates the BMES Mentor & Mentee (M&M) program, which pairs together underclassmen, upperclassmen, and graduate students; the program gives mentees a reliable source of guidance and offers mentors the opportunity to connect with and provide support to the next generation of students. Additionally, committee members work within the greater Bay Area community, organizing STEM outreach events for middle school students and volunteering with various Bay Area organizations, including the Berkeley Project, Meals on Wheels, Berkeley Humane, and the American Red Cross. Anyone interested in developing their creative publicist skills is encouraged to join our Podcast committee, where we create and share Bioengineering information and advice for all Berkeley students. Outreach strives to act as a link between the Berkeley network and students interested in Bioengineering.
